Business Planning Course

THE SPRING BUSINESS PLANNING COURSE IS NOW FULL
The next class will be offered this Fall, dates TBA.
Review how your business is doing, create a business plan, look at cash flow, marketing, and get ready to start or grow your company. Classes will be held Thursday evenings from 6-9pm.
The course instructor, Jim Williams, has taught the program the past five years and has extensive business planning expertise. Williams has his Masters in Business focused on sustainable, resilient, regional businesses. He is an ex-Arthur Andersen management consultant, former Senior Consultant/Managing Director for WDHB Consulting Group, and a Small Business Development business consultant. Williams now owns Best Friend Nutrition in Sequim, a health food store for pets.
“Everything that you learn that night you can use the next day in your business.” said Katherine Baril, program coordinator.
Over fifty-five local businesses have taken the program and profited from the information on cash flow, marketing, risk assessment, pricing, management, and access to capital. “This was the best class ever”, said Larry Dennison of Dos Okies.
Who should attend? Anyone who wants to be their own boss or wants start a small enterprise to supplement income, or has a family recipe or a specialized product that can be made locally.
Topics that will be covered include formation of legal entities, risk management, marketing, product development, pricing, personnel, cash flow and access to legal and organizational alternative structures, financial forecasting, analysis and record keeping.
Participants can complete a business plan ready to finance. The program is offered in a very practical, non-academic way in a relaxed, supportive environment. All the presenters have local real-life business experience--they've been there, done that, and experienced both the gratifications and frustrations of being a business owner.
Space is limited. To register or for more information call EDC/ TEAM JEFFERSON at 379-4693 or email us. The participants will receive a 600-page notebook of resource materials, instruction materials, one- to- one professional business counseling, and a series of presentations from local successful business owners and professionals. The program is co-sponsored by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Main Street, and the Port of Port Townsend. The cost of the class is $250 per person, and according to our graduates, "the best $250 you will ever spend on your business."
